The Pilot Value Chain Based Matching Grant Fund is a sub component of the Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Competitiveness Project.

• To strengthen competitiveness and raise value-added in the selected supply chains by enhancing access to business development services (BDS).
• To strengthen linkages (both between firms and from MSMEs to Markets).
• To stimulate increased demand by MSMEs for BDS through provision of financial incentives for eligible training and other BDS.
• To enhance BDS supply oriented towards servicing specific markets on a sustainable basis.

Matching Grant Management Team (MGMT) serves as the principal administrative body to oversee the day to day operations of the pilot projects; execution of the overall programme; capacity building of sector member entity; assist in the formulation of a comprehensive code of conduct for each selected industry; facilitate apex to dialogue with the donor community for technical support and with the government for policy reforms and working closely with national and international NGOs active in the selected value chains.

Apex Committee: For each of the three value chains i.e. coffee, cotton and pyrethrum, an apex committee comprising of key private sector representatives along the entire chain together with other value chain stakeholders guided by the Matching Grant Management Team (MGMT) have identified priority areas to enable MSMEs increase productivity and employment.
